The near extinct bowhead whale population 350 lost 40 last year in fishing and shipping accidents. They live to be 200 years of age and only become sexually mature at 20. Despite the plain image, the bowhead is beautifully captured on this coin.

Even though this coin was minted in 1988, it is still a very attractive coin and was available for a reasonable price. I also liked the fact that the coin is 27mm in diameter, so all the design details are clearly visible.
