I have been waiting a while for the 1R gold coin to come back into stock at APMEX. A difficult little bugger to find. Its worth the wait as APMEX delivers coins typically higher grade than what they list (from my relatively inexperienced opinion) at a reasonable premium. I received a 1980 that is certainly hitting close to BU. Will sit nicely next to the 2Rs in my collection . . . not a stacking coin but I might snag another while they are still around.

Received my random year 1 rand South Africa coin, and I am very pleased. Got a 1970, and it is still in very good condition. South Africa knows how to make gold bullion coins, and by purchasing the 1 rand or 2 rand coins you can avoid the premium of the Kruggerand (even though they aren't too bad) . I have traveled all over the world, and I know it would be easy to sell my South Africa Gold coins anywhere. They are also a gold/copper alloy so nice and strong. Definitely recommend! As always, APMEX did a great job processing my payment and quickly shipping my order.

Purchased this product to compliment my South African coinage. I like the Springbok design and feel it adds a lot of character to the coin.
