When I first started buying gold, I bought bullion coins for their low premium over gold value. Then I realized that I could get a certifiably numismatic coin for a nominal additional premium. It may make a difference if the government decides to call in gold bullion bars and coins; probably not, but playing an angle. Otherwise, the children get something pretty in their inheritance package.

I was very disappointed that all of my double eagles were dated in the 19 hundreds ( high volume coins ). Their ad promo showed a date of 1897. I have invested over $ 50,000.00 with Apmex. I specifically requested coins in the 18 hundreds. They said they " would see what they could do." Again, my first real disappointment with this company. Makes me think twice.
