My first gold purchase

Have been buying silver since it is affordable at this time, but wanted to diversify with gold. Can't afford whole ounces with an ounce being over $1,300 at the time of this review. I do like how fractionals such as this 1/10th that I bought can be purchased for not alot of money if you take the time to save a few dollars and not be stuck with all or nothing with coming up with the money to buy whole ounces. I also like how shipping costs have gone down as well. I made this order on Friday afternoon, and it was delivered to me on Monday.

beautiful coin

I love the design of this coin. APMEX had a special on them and I took the plunge. I do wish it came in a capsule but it's ok that it didn't. 1/10oz is small but not too small where you can't see it.

I wanted to have an ounce of small denomination gold for barter, and the Canadian 1/10th Maple Leaf was the cheapest gold I could get, ounce for ounce. Through APMEX, the coins came in mint sealed mylar pouches, so I needed to decide whether I wanted to leave them in the pouches, or remove them and put them into 16mm Air-Tite capsules, as I had originally intended. After some thought, I decided to cut off only the tips of the pouch corners and then put them in larger Air-Tite capsules (32mm or 34mm - I don't remember which?). This way, the mint capsules are still intact, and the Air-Tites further protect the coins!

A beautiful coin! Perfect for someone making a small purchase. Even though the coin is very small, the detail of the artwork is beautiful.
