The Tokugawa Shogunate would attempt to reform Japanese coinage by replacing the earlier Chinese and privately issued coinage with a government standard. This coin, the Kanei Tsuho, was the result which would be used for the next 230 years.

Okay at best

Disappointed that mine came with a 3mm asymmetric corrosion hole between characters on the coin. The coin is fairly, even with the expected aged finish and tarnish, if it just weren't for the hole. Basically a 300-year-old novelty.
